Community Commitments

Pro bono and low bono representation.

Small firm, big impact. Supporting communities and causes we care about.

Nonprofit Legal Defense Network

Free representation for nonprofits at risk.

Our attorneys volunteer with We The Action's Nonprofit Legal Defense Network to provide free legal services to nonprofits that are under attack or at risk in the current political climate. If your organization is facing regulatory, enforcement, or litigation pressure tied to mission work, the Nonprofit Legal Defense Network may be able to help.

Children's Advocacy

Continued personal commitment.

Lauren started her career as a teacher at an underprivileged public school in New Haven and as a political organizer and policy advocate in support of access to high-quality public education throughout the State of Connecticut. As a lawyer, she has represented children in abuse and neglect cases in Massachusetts Juvenile Court and continues her commitment to vulnerable children by serving as a volunteer attorney with the U.S. Department of State’s Hague Convention Attorney Network to combat international child abduction.

Selected Matters

Outcome-forward representation.

Provided low bono advisement to urban school-based arts nonprofit

We worked with Boston Arts Club on a limited engagement to review founding documents for a discounted rate. Now kids are dancing across Boston, including through a program tailored to those on the autism spectrum in collaboration with Boston Public Schools.

Reunited Colombian father with son unlawfully retained in Connecticut

Successfully pursued a petition under the Hague Convention to reunite a father with his son after the child's mother refused to return to Colombia with the child after a holiday to the United States. After nearly two years apart, our client finally got to hug his son again and take him home, where he is happy and thriving.

From our clients

Commonlight Legal has been a foundational support for our nonprofit. Our organization’s most recent matters were completed thoroughly, under budget, and ahead of schedule. We look forward to working with them for our future needs!
